Water cooling Question

Hi everyone ,

So, I'm currently building a PC for 5000-5300$
First, let me show you what I have for now :

Motherboard : ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition (at my home tomorrow)
Processor : Intel i7 4930k (at my home thursday)
Graphic Card : Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 TI (not ordered yet, should I wait for the supposed "Black Edition"
SSD : Samsung 840 Pro 256Go (at my home thursday)
Sound Card : ASUS Xonar Essence STX (for my beautiful MMX-300 ) (at my home thursday)
Mémoire RAM : Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x4 16Go 2400Mhz CL9
Case : Corsair 900D (at my home thursday)
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TO (at my home thursday)
Power supply : AX860i (at my home thursday)
Beautiful Black and White Sleeved Cable from Corsair

As you see, alot of things are coming thursday

I think it's that!

Question about the parts :
- Should I wait for the supposed "Black Edition"
- Do 860W will be enough for this pc?

Now, it's getting complicate!
It's time for... Watercooling
[Nothing is ordered yet]

So, for now I made that.

- Two EK Nickel Waterblock for the 780 TI
- Koolance 380i for the i7 4930k
- Ice Dragon Cooling Nanofluid 1L (I know, I know )
- Swiftech MCP35X for the pump
- For the radiator, I was thinking of two Alphacool Nexxxos UT60 480mm and two ST30 240mm
- 10ft of Primoflex Advanced LRT (white) from Primochill
- Reservoir : ???

Do I miss something???

Question for the watercooling :

- Do 1L of liquid will be enough?
- Do 10ft of tubing will be enough?
- What do you think I should take for the reservoir? (I would like a mounted one, not a bay)

This is it

I would probably do a build log, so if someone can show me how do that, it would be very appreciate.

Thank you vey much for your time and help

I recommend EK Waterblocks because of the performance/price ratio...

I recommend EK Waterblocks instead for the CPU block. Also, the actual best coolant is distilled water with a silver "kill coil" added in your reservoir. The highest performing pump is probably the EK Laing D5 w/ clear top. For the radiator, I personally have two XSPC AX 240mm and 360mm radiators with push-pull fan configuration. Personally love them for their size/performance. For the reservoir, I personally advise tube reservoirs instead of bay reservoirs for a neater rig, as with bay reservoirs, 1. it is impossible to use rigid tubing and 2. you need more "slack" on your tubing to/from the reservoir, which looks bad when the reservoir is pushed in all the way. 1L may not be enough, I recommend 2-3 for 100% sure of filling the loop and a bit more leftover for refilling the loop due to evaporation. For the reservoir, I recommend an EK Multioption x3 or an XSPC Photon tube reservoir. Creating a build log is easy, just take pictures of the important steps eg. installing the CPU, GPU, blocks, motherboard, PSU routing, etc. and write a 1-2 sentence commentary on them. Best of luck :)

Hi Nuclear101,

Thank you very much for your tips.
I have some question for you :
- Why do you recomment me EK instead of the Koolance one?
- I will look for the pump
- I know, I was sure that we will say me that, but distilled water is white and I would like my reservoir to be white. I really don't know what to choose, the only problem I have with the Ice Dragon, is that it's so costly! Three of them and bam, 100$...
- Thank you for the reservoir, I will check what you give me.

I forget to say that I want a low restriction loop (silence)

For the build log, I create it in which section?

Anyway, thank you again

I recommend EK Waterblocks because of the performance/price ratio: http://www.overclock.net/t/1411620/review-cpu-cooler-roundup-nine-water-coolers-in-test-alphacool-aquacomputer-ek-waterblocks-koolance-phobya-swiftech-xspc (Sorry if its in German or a foreign language, but the testing is shown underneath everything. The pump is listed here in frozencpu: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/21015/ex-pmp-246/EK_D5_X-Top_Pump_Top_w_D5_Vario_Pump_-_Acrylic_EK-D5_Vario_X-TOP_-_Plexi_incl_pump.html?tl=c107s1802b133&id=pjkqcr6P&mv_pc=4349

For waterblocks, check out this roundup: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?285753-CPU-water-blocks-roundup

I will look for the Koolance situation.
What do you think about the liquid, should I sacrifice my white liquid for the distilled water (the biggest advantage would be the price)

I'll come back with some update
Thank you for your time

What liquid do you have right now? If you want the lowest resistance, then distilled water will allow that with the quietest and coolest operation. You can experiment but there is a debate on if they cause issues or not. Some people say that the colors in colored coolant clog up the loop and do tests, but others say it doesn't. I recommend using colored tubing/lighting effects to make water look colored :) I For my rig I used a piece of white tape and stuck a red LED strip behind it. It makes the coolant "glow" red but the white tape diffuses the light so your eyes don't hurt when you look at it. I also use red, rigid acrylic tubing.

For now, I don't have any liquid because I'm not sure of what to buy
I think I will use distilled water because of the performance/price. I'll just have to find a way to make the liquid in the reservoir look white.

Congratulations! You convinced me ;)

Lol thanks :) I figured the best reservoir for white LED's is the XSPC photon tube res, as it has an acrylic rod in the middle that you can put an LED in one end to help diffuse the light. Here's the manufacturers link: http://www.xs-pc.com/reservoirs/photon-270-tube-reservoir

Note about the reservoir: Its going to burn brighter on the end with the LED, but it also gives a cool effect.

Perfect perfect, I can thank you enough. I will update all that and I will send you a mp (if you want, of course) to show you the update :)

I'm glad I helped you. But two things: 1. Whats mp? (#nolifeotherthancomputers) 2. This is the rig I modeled mine after: http://www.overclock.net/t/1422597/build-log-corsair-c70-with-twin-xspc-ax360s/110 (I'm using a Corsair 750D instead, but the same loop type, etc.) :D
