Hey guys,
I need to know what kind of power supply should I get for this build.
Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC (4 or 6 of these)
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, socket AM3+
AMD Sempron LE-145, 2800MHz
HyperX Black Series 2x4G DDR 1600mhz
SSD Kingston Now V300, 60GB
Cards will run at about 95-100%, slight undervolt. So I need watts for 4 and 6 cards.
Thank you

im pretty much sure that he wanna do some mining. therefore he doesnt need 6-way xfire, just 6 PCI-E slots.

6 isn't possible, and 4 isn't recommended, SLI is a bit ahead of crossfire (debatable, let's not go into that) and it is really bad for quad graphics cards, crossfire I imagine is worse, it's to do with the drivers, and with AMD drivers, it will be hard to go through that maze. also the sempron is bad for a single 280x, for a 280x, a fx 6300 would probably suit it.

All reputable 1200+ Power Supplies
-Corsair AX1200
-EVGA SuperNova 1500w
-Seasonic 1250w
These should offer sufficient power. But really, upgrade your CPU, the 280x is being held back by the sempron. go for a FX 6300/8350, or an i5 3470

WTF I hate is people post comments and know nothing of what they are talking about, just shouting information based on thought and not trial and error of anything. Its one of those things where if you dont have anything to say, remain silent. Just because you may know how to assemble a computer or build a gaming rig, mining is a entirely different set of know how.

1st off your cpu is not important so buy the cheapest one you can find.
Same thing with the hardrive. Find and old Sata drive with at least 40 GB or more and your find. DO NOT waste your money on SSD drives I REPEAT DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

The power supply you need will be a 1300 or better. We particularly like the EVGA 1300's. But the Rosewill 1300 or Antec 1300 will wqork fine as well. With the EVGA you can actually run 5 R9 280'xs full throttle on this PSU but I dont like that idea so we run 4.

and for all the naysayers who have '0' pro knowledge in building pro rigs..not just a few gpu you throw together in a crate. We have been building these rigs since BTC was under $1.00....(yes a very long time!)

I do not usually post to threads, but enough is enough already.
