Sapphire Vapor-X or Asus DirectCUII? (R9 280X)

Which is better? And I'm not talking about the "TOP" version of Asus, which is slightly more overclocked, for an extra price.

I do plan on doing some litecoin mining possibly, and did see some charts showing the Vapor-X being one of the better aftermarket coolers to have when mining bit/lite coins. Stays below 70C, even under full load.

And which would be also good for gaming?

Also, to not make another thread. Will a 620-650W PSU be enough for both cards? I do plan on overclocking, both CPU and GPU.

MB - Asus Gryphon and CPU Intel i5 4670k.

In my experience (I build machines for customers as a side job) the Vapor-X is better. Runs quieter and cooler. I'm actually waiting on 2 more Vapor-X 280x's to get here for a new build.

Don't get me wrong though, the Asus DirectCU is still really good, it's really a hard pick, but mine would be Vapor-X.

I can say for sure that a 280X Vapor-X will stay around 70c while bitcoin/litecoin mining but it depends on many factors such as ambient, case ect. I have a HD7970 Vapor-X and it runs very cool.

Right now, the best 280X would be the Toxic that uses their new Triple-X design. Stays cool and runs at 1100MHz with a boost to 1200MHz.

Asus has great products too and even though I have mostly gone with Sapphire for GPUs, I am highly considering Asus for my next GPU, a 290X, because I have had such great luck with their motherboards.

It all depends on the price/performance they give. If the Asus R9-290X DCUII is cheaper while same specs, that's what I will go for.

Either way you go, as long as you stick with Sapphire and Asus, you will have a great card. Just don't get MSI as I have seen more of theirs have bad fans after a few months than any other brand.

I believe, the ASUS version is the cooler of two and performs better. It was second only to the Toxic version last time I looked at R9 280X benchmarks.
