do i need a soundcard?

hi all, i was just wondering if i should get a soundcard for extra clarity and oomph. i am using eagle arion 2.1 speakers and just want the best i can get. thanks!

Your onboard sound should be good enough for powering them, but if you want the best audio quality, I recommend a Creative Labs Z, Zx, or ZXR. The Z is the base, which is all that you need, the Zx helps with audio recording, and the ZXR has two audio chips instead of one to produce the highest quality sound.

Unless you have high grade headphones or if your speakers are high-performance, you won't notice much difference between the three sound cards. I use the ZXR because I do audio/video recording, editing, playback, gaming with Corsair SP Speakers, etc.
