I am looking for a graphics card for my new pc. i've laid out 2 choices:
-either get a gtx 780/780 ti and be happy with it
-get a gtx 770 and wait till maxwell then buy whatever high end card there is after selling the 770. hopefully the new gtx 880 would be far a greater improvement over this gtx 780 and is well worth the wait.

i have i7-4771, z87 mobo and 32 gb ram. i am not looking for upgrade here. im building a new pc to replace a 10 year old desktop. so i am willing to spend extra.

i will game at 1080p. I want to be able to play maximum settings at this resolution for at least the next 4 years. I hate to upgrade regularly (too much hassle). So I build a new PC once in 5 years and spend a lot in one go. Also, I hate waiting to long for a gpu. Will maxwell be ready in 6 months?

Also, I have to mention that I am getting a good deal for non reference gtx 780 ti. It is priced similarly to a reference card. Should I grab it? It's the palit overclocked jetstream model. Please help me. Thanks for reading.
