Can I SLI a GTX ASUS 680 with the new GTX EVGA or ASUS 780?

It is not possible. You can only SLI cards of the same model.

You could use the 680 to do the PhysX only.

That would help out.

Especially in upcoming games at ultra.

This assumes

(a) you already have a 680

and

(b) you plan to buy a 780

and

(c) you appreciate that running the 780 will run the games of 2014 brilliantly, and the 680 will do all the PhysX eye candy, to allow for top frame rates.

Where;-

My GTX 780 Ultra goes down to as few as 10fps at 120Hz at Ultra settings on Batman Arkham city in 3D; so would benefit from a dedicated Physx card.

As for SLi, its "No", but a better alternative is pointed out, and no requirment to read between the lines is required.
