my hdd is dead (isn't spinning and isn't recognized in a external dock), ive replaced it with a hdd out of a old external drive and reloaded windows 7 onto it, ive read that to get the hdd working temporarily freezing or cooling it down can work, so if I manage to get it working how can I make an exact copy of it and load it onto the laptop so it is virtually the same as before??

If the 'freezing' thing works (doubtful, but sometimes) it is very unlikely to last long enough to make a full clone of the data on it.
As you have Windows already installed on a 'replacement' drive, just reinstall all your applications.
Then try the freeze thing to get your personal data off of it.

And whether it works or not, get a backup location. External drive or similar, to make regular backups of your personal data.
That way, the next time a drive dies.....you will still have your irreplaceable data.
