Hey all, was just wondering if anyone could help me with a slight problem i have,

I recently bought a new gfx card ( AMD 7950 ) since installing it into my system ( mainly to play bf3 and 4 ) my FPS in game are very poor considering the card i have, im getting around 30-40 fps in Bf3 on medium somtimes drops to 20 and below but mostly around 30 to 40 fps, i was just wondering if anyone could be able to tell me if my CPU could be bottlenecking ??,

Here is my System

AMD phenom ii x4 940 running at ~ 3.0ghz
Asus M3N WS
4gb DDR2 corsair
AMD radeon 7950 3gb
PSU OCZ Game X stream 600w
24'' Monitor running at 1920 x 1080

If it is bottlenecking i was thinking of upgrading to this

Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX AMD Socket AM3+
AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz Socket AM3+ Octo Core
G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB DDR3 1600MHz

Just intrested to know your thoughts on this

Many thanks Tony

You could try overclocking that phenom, they're designed for it (if it's Black Edition).
It's not helped that you're running DDR2 RAM.
In mutiplayer there will be much more stress on the CPU than there is in single-player, so if it runs fine in single-player then you probably have a CPU bottleneck as you suggested.

What you've planned to upgrade to is good. You could go with an FX 8320, save some money, and overclock it. Be sure to get a nice CPU cooler too (CM Hyper 212 EVO, Noctua NH-D14) to overclock!

yeah in single player i hit over 100 fps, just multiplayer where the trouble starts lol, and yeah the FX 8320 could save some cash thanks for that :)
