Hello guys, desperate for some help here.

My lacie hard drive was working perfectly fine until just suddenly one day it stopped working. I never dropped this hard drive. On windows 7 when I plug in the external drive it doesnt show up in my computer however it shows up in disk management. I am not able to assign a drive letter. It allows me to delete volume but I DO NOT want to do this, I have my life time of artwork, photos and other files in here. I tried plugging the drive into different computers , i tried using different usbs , i plugged the usb behind pc as well. The drive makes a spinning noise or something when its plugged in.

Attached is a screenshot . Disk 2 is the drive . Please HELP! Thank you.

Hello... any drive or external you need to make "partiton active" what is 'DISK1"? Disk 2 says it healthy and active already, and will need to be formated... try a direct connection to your MB for your next test... there is recovery software to load the backup FAT table on a hardrive, is the next data recovery method... your drive is not showing Windows it's format... what was the Format of the drive? FAT16 Fat32 NTFS? Or were you using a BACKUP Program/software on the drive?... if so you need to Load that software backup for DATA read/recovery.
Hello... take the drive out of the enclosure and plug direct into your motherboard... too determine if it's the hardrive or enclosure/interface... and to get data off of it. do to security settings , you have to make the 'Partition active" in Windows 7, right click for that option.

For Disk 2 , it doesnt allow me to do that. Only options that are given when i right click is Delete Volume and Help.
Unless you meant to do this once I have plugged the drive directly to the motherboard?

Hello,
I recently had a similar problem with Netac 1TB and I read and tried to update the drivers as suggested.
I finally discovered that sometimes solutions may be far simpler than you think.
In my case, I carefully had a look at the USB3.0 cable and found on the PC side that a small piece of aluminium paper, probably coming from chocolate sweets was inside the female USB plug.
so I just removed it using a knife and things just work perfectly now.
so maybe I could suggets other users facing the same issue to check their USB cable first.
Regards
