Finding a motherboard that supports 4 way sli + other things?

First let me say this, i am giant scrub when it comes to this stuff, i dont know much. I am like noob central. So please dont be harsh.

So, i have a gtx 780, and im that kind of guy that wants to max all settings out, but this single card sometimes doesnt let me do so and still have a solid 60 fps. That is why i want to one day go 2 way sli, maybe even 3 way. (i know 3 way isnt that much of an increase, thats why i said some day)

now, i am more than likely, never, EVER, going 4 way, but i still want a motherboard that supports 4 way. Rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it, you know?

this is where my nooby-ness comes in. I dont know anything....

first off, all motherboards that have 4 slots look that same, but the last on is really close to the edge. Since 780 is a 2 slot card, wont it go over the connections and not allow them to be plugged in?

Secondly, i currenly have on my pc an ethernet cable card, which is in the pci express 3.0 slot

I dont know if its my eyes, but the slot looks a little raised compared to the rest, does this affect inserting any gpus? And also, i need my internet, but all the motherboards i have looked at only have 1 of these, are near the top, and will be blocked by a card if using sli...

along with this, i have a wifi card that is connected to a pcix1, which i would like to also plug in? but isnt necessary. I read that they work in the gpu slots, but when i did so on my motherboard, i just got blue screen..so if you guys could clarify this bit for me?

So that is really about it. Remember, im a noob, so i dont know if what im asking for is even possible.. 4 way sli capability, and being able to connect my ethernet and wifi card?

Please explain why either im too much of a noob to understand why something cant be so, or point me to some motherboards?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Sorry for writing so much, but in reviewing, i just read something about socket types! cpus vary in sizes or something? so some motherboards wouldnt work? is this the same for ram and things?

my current motherboard is the gigabyte x79-up4
i think the type is a lg 2011? but i need clarification because i dont want to mess up. So that means that my processor size type thing? and i can only get motherboards that are lg 2011?

the only motherboard i have been able to find is this very expensive one:
ASRock X79 Extreme11 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

all the slots are interchangeable right? gpu cards fit in each? ethernet card can fit anywhere? or?

Thanks, but that was only a small fraction of what i was asking. The big thing i want to know is (if it exists), were can i get a motherboard that supports 4 way sli (GPUs that take up 2 slots) and perhaps still be able to plug in my ethernet cable card thing.

EDIT: To be honest, i just want to be able to 3 way sli, and connect my internet card somewhere, but the pci express slot is always blocked with the sli (so i think)

I am using wired! thats what ive been asking! I need a pci express 3.0 to plug in INTEL GIGABITE BAST-T NIC
but i CANT because it is always located at the top, and would be covered over with 3 way sli

Hello... opps me BAD!!!... Good eye o_O On board WIFI might be an option/ without a card? I don't see anything that will fit the 5 cards you need into a standard ATX size board... your maybe talking about a server type board setup... check high end Video/Server shops.

First question, the gigabyte mother board in the second picture, is that your motherboard that you have now?

If it is, you already have a MB that will support 4-way SLI. You can populate slots 1, 3, 5, and 7 with graphics cards. If you only have 2 cards installed, they should be in slots 1 and 5.

As far as slot 7 and fitting a graphics card, you have to have a case that has 8 or 9 expansion slots on the back to be able to use that slot. Look at the Coolermaster HAF X case to see what I'm talking about.

the only possible way to do 4-way SLI and still retain the use of the slots in between for your NIC and WIFI card would be to water cool the cards so that they only occupy one slot instead of 2. But that could still be a problem because of the expansion slot cover and it being used for the extra DVI output.

If that is not your MB, tell me what you do have and I can try to help you further.
