Hi everyone, I built a PC around June, 2013 specifically to play games on it. Recently i bought Far Cry 3 and AC4:Black Flag on steam during the sale.
I'm currently experiencing a full freeze on my PC when going through the game. The time it freezes my computer in both games are specific. (Example, Far Cry 3 tutorial when sneaking out of Vaas's camp).
My computer can handle everything else fine, web browsing, youtube, videos, streaming. Its only when i play specific games (FarCry3, AC4) that causes a complete freeze on my computer.

My computer specs
OS: Windows 8 64bit.
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0 GHz
GPU: XFX Double D FX-787A-CDBC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Black Edition.
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1866

Thanks Everyone!

have you tried uninstalling the drivers for your 7870, updating .NET framework (to most current) and re-install the driver. If you are using beta use stable, if your using stable, try the beta. Can you run a test with Furmark? Burn in test with at least 2x MSAA and a highish resolution and fullscreen (exit key to stop test) (1366 x 768 is good). Tell us the % load on the GPU, and the GPU fans, and max temps throughout. I have that same graphics card, and I have no problems with FC3, I don't play AC though..
Also look into yout catalyst control manager, gaming/3d settings tab-----> change all the settings to application managed (not AMD optimized). Verify the integrity of the games on steam too.
Last case, if you havnt done so, could be (after trying/re-trying new drivers) would be to un-install and re install the games that are giving you headaches.

Hi Beezy, sorry for the late reply! I updated all my drivers last night, and am currently following your instructions by updating my .net framework right now. I'm using the stable driver currently, so i'll definetly give beta a look.
Furmark at 1600x900
GPU Usage 99%, fan 96%
Temp: Min:54C, 96C
I have changed all the settings in Catalyst to application managed, and already verified the integrity of the cache.

if 96 degrees is the max thats kinda hot..For me when i had stable my furmark was skippy and bioshock straight up crashes while loading my continue game. Then i update back to the beta 13.11_9.4 something like that, my furmark was smooth again, and bioshock worked

when i use furmark the temp just consistently climbs up. i updated drivers to beta and i managed to play far cry 3 past the tutorial. However it still froze my whole computer when i died.

If you overclocked your system, it could just be unstable.
