Well i think i found the problem. Went microcenter a couple days ago and got an AMD FX4130 bundled with a gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P mATX. The sales associate told me that these would work fine together. Well i just checked the gigabyte website and it doesn't even have AMD FX4130 supported.

but it does say it supports the fx400 and fx450.

do you guys think this could be the problem? i tried everything else.

the fx4300 is on the support list .

Might well be, the 4350 came out and is 125 watt where most of the other 43xx are 95 watt

then it is a 125 watts cpu http://shop.amd.com/us/All/Detail/Processor/FD4130FRGUBOX so print both page and bring them to the micro center and ask for a refund on the cpu or exchange of one that will work with your board .

ok thanks. i have anohter question regarding the cpu. im probably just going to swap out the motherboard for a compatible one. anyway the cpu came with a heatsink which had thermal or w.e its called. do i need to apply more thermal? i just took everything apart and now theres a smudge of thermal on the top of the fan and a little bit of it on the cpu. would i need to buy more thermal?

Same, same, the 4130 is also a 125 Watt and not compatible (unless they've upgraded the BIOS to take it)

if you remove the cooler you will need to clean the thermal paste and reaply new one .
