I need help with upgrading my mobo and cpu

I have a pretty old computer from about 2004, I want to upgrade my motherboard and cpu because it is getting really slow and hard to deal with.

From what I've found my current system type is the HP Compaq dc7700 convertible mini tower, and my cpu is the Intel(R) Core(TM)2, I tried doing a little research myself and don't know most of what is being talked abou.I only have a budget of around $100-$120, any help is appreciated! :)

realisticly budget is far to small

you would have to replace more then cpu ,motherboard , ram, os and probly a new hd

depending on what your aiming to do

Well if budget was out of the question and only need to update as to upgrade, what would be best.

I was looking and thought that something like this would be good AMD Quad-Core A8-Series APU A8-3850 with Radeon HD 6500D but my motherboard is too old and I would need to upgrade that too, can I buy a new, cheap mobo and still use a processor like this?

And do any products from all companies work together, like an AMD motherboard and cpu with a nvidia gefore graphics card?

Well I have 4 gbs of DDR2 ram, windows 7 home premium (32 bit), the gpu is decent and is able to play any games I want but I need suggestions for a new cpu and motherboard.

I can spend $150, I just want to update my cpu, any more help is appreciated!
