Hello.

Yesterday I was happy as I was finally able to buy a new PC.

So I got the following:
Gigabyte B75
4GB Ram Kingston HyperX
i5 3470
1 TB WD 7200RPM
500 Watt Gigabyte Powerrock

So I went and plugged everything in. When all was connected (even my old GT 520) I went ahead and started the PC, but I smelt some burnt smoke.coming from the PCB connector. That' was weird. I kept looking around and making sure everything was neat and all. Still I smelt smoke when I turned on the PC, coming from the PCB connector. the worst thing that happened was that it just smoked for more then 3 seconds. that's it. So I got my old PSU (it's basically a chinese one.) I plugged in my old PSU and everything. But nothing, happened when I plugged it in and all.

So right then there I was scared... So I took everything out and plugged my old GPU back into my old PC. and I also took the 1TB.

The GPU is working fine, which is a great sign. The 1 TB HDD, when I first plugged it in, the motherboard detected it and it said in Windows 7 that it was installing it's drivers. But I restarted the PC, and the HDD is nowhere to be found on Windows 7, but how ever it's shown that it is connected by the motherboard.

So, what could have happened? I'm going to take it to a shop so he could plug it in for me, cause clearly I'm an idiot.

Did you build this pc and not install the stand offs for the board? how reliable is the gigabyte power supply... Did you look at any reviews before you bought it?

The gigabyte PSU is reliable. It's the only one in the market here, and of course, they're not going to be intrested in a product that isn't that good. but yeah I've read a review and I saw it was good. And what do you mean by the stand offs?

Uhm, I was just wondering if it's all going to be okay since 1. The GPU made it, and 2. The HDD too.

Sadly I'm not able to go fix the PC as I'm working right now. But I've requested my brother to take it to the shop, because I'm scared of making mistakes again.

So, do you guys think it's going to be fine?

Okay. I went and did everything. The PC is okay and it's working fine. Everything survived, I'm very happy. :p
