The specs on my gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 says 1333(O.C.)/1066. I know O.C. is over clocking but im confused how that works... is it just because i chose that RAM does it mean i am automaticly O.C.-ing?
No just changing ram settings will not affect the CPU apart from it having the Memory controller on modern ones and the std cooler is still plenty. If you overclock the CPU you will need an aftermarket cooler like Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO for example.
The board supports 1066 natively but it is an overclock setting to run 1333! Basically means even if you put in 1333 it will run at 1066 unless you change it in BIOS/UEFI

thank you so much! that makes sense. also, if you overclock the RAM does that mean the CPU will O.C. as well? and what precautions should i take for O.C.-ing my computer. ex/ do i need a different CPU cooler rather than the one that comes with the CPU?
