i have recently aquired a hp pavillion laptop with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz and 2gb ati raedeon HD8670 graphics card and run windows 8 on it. As far as I know it not supposed to lag on call of duty modern warefare 1, bit it does... everywhere I look in the system it only "sees" the intel hd 4000. I've looked in the bios but there is no feature to change.

how can I only use the dedicated graphics card??

I don't know much about your problem, but the first place I would look is in the battery/energy management options, maybe the system is configured so that it would only use the integrated gpu to avoid using up more power. Try to set every power-saving feature off and try again?

i've sort of found a solution...it doesn't always show the graphics card but I gained a major increase in performance. I think too much according to the reviews of the card.
every game I want to run I always right click on the games icon, go to properties, compatibility settings and then change the OS version to windows XP SP2 or if that isn't there, to Vista.
The performance of my card then for some reason extended the performance indicated on the internet.
I can now play Mad Max(low), FarCry 4(high), nfs 2015( medium). and for some reason in some games like FarCry 4, the higher the graphics setting the higher frame rate I get???
