My laptop recently started to develop a strange issue.I got connected to a wi-fi network, which started to have the "limited access" problem. When I disconnected and tried to connect again, the connection manager just froze and nothing helped but to reboot the laptop. After that the same problem started to happen not only when I disconnect from that network (and try to connect again), but when I try to connect or at least obtain information from other networks. I tried disabling the driver and enabling it again and also re-installing it but nothing happened.I also made a virus/malware scan of my laptop and I have no treats or infected files on it.I am starting to consider re-installing the OS.Do you have any idea what the problem might be?Thank you in advance.

The laptop model is Dell Inspiron n5110. The OS is Win 7 (Ultimate x64).I made another thread several days ago, explaining this, but no one answered:

"I recently had a strange issue with my laptop(Dell Inspiron 5110N).When I close the lid and open it after a couple of seconds, the screen is black(while the OS is working) and I have to reboot it in order to get fixed. If I close the lid and don't do anything, the laptop shuts down after some time. Now the strangest thing:I just remembered that this issue occured 2 months ago - the last time I brought my laptop to my village. Now I have brought it here for the first time since then and the issue occurs again. When I am here, this problem happens, when I bring back the laptop back to my home city, the issue disappears.I know it sounds crazy, but any ideas what the problem might be?I have to mention that the laptop was dropped 10 months ago, but isn't it strange that the problem started to happen just by now and specifically, just when I am at my village?Thank you."

The wi-fi problem also happens when I am at that village.I don't have any reasonable explanation of all of this. I hope that you can help me.

Thank you for the advice.I forgot to explain that this problem gets fixed as well when I return the laptop from the village to my hometown, just like the closed lid problem.Any ideas what might cause it?My only 2 explanations are the temperature change from my hometown to the village (my room is warm and the room in my village is really cold) and the moving of the laptop from the one point to the other.Although it seems strange that everything gets fixed when I get back home everytime.

Heat could be a problem as well. Dropping it could have jostled (moved) the CPU and GPU heatsinks. Using the wireless adapter does generate heat and could be affecting the other components. You can use the previously linked manual to take you system apart and then remount the heatsinks (with new thermal compound) while you are checking out the wireless adapter.

Thanks for the help, I will probably bring the laptop to service, since I am not very much into hardware. As I said, cold and not heat might be the problem, since the problems start when I bring it there, where the temperature is considerably colder.

I have the same problem. I updated to windows 10 but I experienced again the frezzes and no wifi connections. I tried different options found in internet but the problem resolved only temporanely. I followed this instructions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i7xaYe_9ic

it worked initially for wifi connections and then it works even only with the command
netsh winsock reset catalog

but then the problem is represented.

the strange thing is that when I moved the computer or better if I moved the monitor of the laptop, the computer freezes and I have to restarted it with power button. Sometimes when it restarts the problem of wifi connection appears and sometimes not.

I have a Yoga 3 Pro 1370 Laptop Lenovo
