I have a Netgear router supplied by Frontier hardwired into my desktop and it stays connected 24/7. My laptop connects most of the time, but when it doesn't it gives me the message "Local Access Only", even when it's in the same room as the desktop that's connected. And my Nook...I'm lucky if it stays connected for more than 10 minutes at a time. It's a constant reboot with that one. Any suggestions?

A wired connection is always going to be more stable than a wireless one for a variety of reasons, so no surprises there.
Try setting your router to a specific wireless channel. The default setting is (usually) "Automatic" where the router "channel hops" automatically so in theory you always get the best signal. In practice, however, that can often work against you.

Set the channel preferably to a high number, 10, 11 or 12 (if available in your country).
You will have open your router's web-based configuration utility to change the channel setting. Use a wired connection to do it.

I have almost the same problem, my laptop connects to the wifi with almost no problems, but when I try to connect my nook to the same wifi, it says limited or no internet connectivity. I can't get it to use the wifi anymore, now that we have the laptop......
