I want to install a second graphics card for xfire. i have one 5770 installed, the xfx revision 2 with the egg shaped cooler. I have found a second card on ebay but when i came to install it, the second card sits a few mms off the psu.

This causes the fan to be blocked, is there anyway we can move the card over? i was looking at a pci-e x16 extender cable to move the card over to the left a little so it sits nearer the first pci slot. would this work?

my motherboard is asrock 970 pro2.
picture of motherboard specs here:

i dont want to buy a new case as its an expensive silverstone one. is there anything else i can do?

Do not crossfire the HD5770, it just a really bad idea.

Your motherboard only has the below configuration :
2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (PCIE2: x16 mode; PCIE3: x4 mode

You need at least 2 x8 PCI-e ports to run crossfire successfully.
If you add another HD5770 the second one in the x4 PCI-e port will actually slow down the first one and likely give you worse performance.
