Hi!
I am a novice at all the different hardware and software requisites for my computer. I need a Graphics card for Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E4500
(2M Cache, 2.20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB).
I have already extended the RAM from 1GB to 3.
As I am setting up a new lab, I want this for faster display, as I have brought a 120Hz refresh rate CRT monitor for displaying some images for my experimentation purposes, but the monitor supports 155 to 180Hz, which is not visible without a suitable video card. Kindly advice (though I am still trying to figure out the basics still... I really would try to understand and follow)

Hi! :)  first of all you didnt put in your detail much so i cant provide you with more information. But from what i saw.The first thing you need to change is your CPU.Your CPU already had quite some age(sorry for my rudeness).CPU plays an important role in displaying or gaming. Many times even if you had a powerful GPU,but your CPU will often bottleneck it.That is the problem with you current CPU.Also the MONITOR REFRESH RATE sometimes depends on the Graphic Driver as well.If your Graphic driver is outdated, well the problems you mentioned could probably happened too.I am not sure whether your current CPU will bottleneck any GPU but indeed it is quite slow for high end GPU and bottleneck may occur.Bottleneck between CPU and GPU means the GPU is too fast and the CPU is too slow, causing the GPU will be waiting for the command from CPU thus creating bottleneck and slows everything down(especially when heavy Graphic usage).I would suggest you to change your CPU first :D  After that,Buy a Sapphire HD 7000 or R9 series graphic card or Nvidia GTX 500 or 600 series Card :)  Also,Please mention what windows you currently using. If you are using a 64-bit OS,3GB ram is not quite enough.I would suggest you hop on to at least 4GB minimum or 6GB.For me personally,I would suggest you to have 8GB RAM.Hope i helped :D

Hi HawJin, Thanx for the reply and pertinent information you provided.
I understand that my CPU is old..... cant think of changing it though:(  ..Sorry that I cannot incorporate your valuable suggestions..So that was one of the reasons that I am trying to make it work a little more smoothly, for which I got a 2GB RAM, purchased a CRT (for better refresh rate) and now want to get a graphics card. Have narrowed down on ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GT 630.
I am currently using Windows 7 on a 32bit OS.
So all this is not for gaming but for experimental purposes in psycho-physics and my budget is also not much, so all this adds to the trouble. I just need a smooth running computer for the display of different stimuli.
What do you suggest?
Thanx for all your help. :)

No its ok :)  no worries :)  Erm could you tell me what is the actual budget(i mean the figure) for your card and what brand you prefer? :p  because for me personally i would suggest you AMD card more better :)  The reason i choose AMD is because the cost-performance ratio of AMD products compare to Nvidia Products, well Nvidia is way too overpriced :p  Secondly,by theoritically they calculated that Nvidia Card is better then AMD card, however when they put into actual practical test, turns out that AMD card had won. :)  let me know of your Budget and brand you prefer :)  thank you :D

Hi,
I have a really low budget of around not more than 80$ (5000 Indian rupees only), The card is a little more expensive here too, somehow the tech stuff is expensive in general....
There is no preferences watsoever that I hold in general between AMD/nVidia. I chose this coz it seemed a suitable card for the mid segment and was 2GB with 810 MHz GPU Clock Speed. Dont knw much in thios account though. Do lemme know. But yaa thanks a lot for your valuable feedback. :)

Hi!
Will my graphics card be compatible with the system I have or should I have more speed? I also required to know if I need a SATA driver too. My system is still very slow.... can I increase the RAM further?
Wat else may I do in the cheapest way possible?
Thanx :)
