Well the title say it pretty well but I'll explain more. My current pc has been working like a champ for 6 months. Fast boot times, smooth framerates even at ultra, quiet and cool. I was pretty happy with my pc until that damn shutdown problem happened. It only happened yesterday, after checking some emails I decided to shut it down while I did some quick garage cleaning, when I came back (which was after 10 minutes) the "Windows Shutting Down" screen was still showing. I waited for at least 5 minutes since I thought it was updating something but instead it came back to my login screen. I ended up long-pressing the powerbutton after multiple restarts and endless shutdowns, I also tried doing some scans and system restores but still nothing has changed. The strange thing is that my pc still boots fast (Using a Samsung 840 pro SSD) and all my games/programs run fine. I really need your help guys since this damn problem is making me crazy.

By the way, if you need the important specs then here it is ( I can also mention that I did not attempt to overclok any of my hardware)

CPU: i7 3770k (Cooled by a H80i)
GPU: EVGA GTX 680 4GB Classified
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 16gb 1600mhz
MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V deluxe
SSD: Samsung 840 pro 256gb
HDD: Western Digital 1tb 7200rpm

Solution
That was a checklist of your hardware to determine if all is ok or not. If everything is fine after doing the test, then the problem you are facing could be of software/driver level issue.

Try to bootup the PC in safe mode then do a shutdown, if it turns off normally then do a format and a clean install of OS, everything will be fine.

Its better to format and clean install the OS after 6-8 months time. Good luck.
