i have a x79s ud-5 mother board and a thermaltake 1000w tough power PSU.
recently i biught 2x gigabyte r9 280x gpu for crossfire running in a 13.10 dirver.

i am pretty sure the psu have sufficient power and both cards works fine individually. now the problem came when i put the bridge on, it black screened at windows logon. i tried to install the latest 13.11 v9.4 beta but not help at all.

can any one help me to verify the problem

You dont need a bridge on the R9 280x ;) , could be a conflict though strange. Check manuals etc about the no bridge part.

It's the 290/x that don't require a bridge.

As for your issues, have you got another bridge to try?

Here might be your solution:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-c...

It says that need in fact atleast 13.11 drivers, try newest beta AND catalyst drivers.

Yes tried that the same thing still happens

Have you checked for newest chipset drivers for your motherboard? also check BIOS changelogs of there is any reference to your problem at all! let me know!.

I have notice something if i have both cards installed the booting time and stating beep takes a bit longer the usual.
Can it be the my psu is old and not producing enough power. Which is wired because thermaltake is a good brand and 1000w is more than enough

Might be, have you tested the system with a diffrent PSU? have you tested 'both' cards individually?
Is the PSU atleast bronze certified? if not you could discount i believe 20% of the wattage that is being mentioned, you having infact only 800watts.

If the PSU is years old you could deduct some more from the real power output. (i know it all seems far fetched and weird)

Let me know.

what exact type model do you have? how old is old? do you have 1 long beep at start or its the same 'one' beep later.

Seasonic 850 watt Gold+ supplies are at decent prices, would recommend that one.

I think i figured out the issue. I have a r9 280x Gen 1 and a Gen 2 card. The Gen 2 works fine its the Gen 1 card its works without the drive but once i install the drivers and and catalyst the black screen will appear after booting.

Tried the 13.10 driver that comes with the card and the current 13.11 v9.2 beta both came up with the same issue. I stating to believe i just got a bad card

Does anyone one have s8molar issues

I highly recommend contacting your vendor, the manufacturer of the cards, AMD and maybe all three at once the same mail. I do find your problem highly strange and i just dont believe as well that its your PSU....it just barely adds up!. Please try a support request on any of the above mentioned, i wonder what was wrong initially so do let me know once its fixed.

You do have everything gigabyte so Gigabyte is the one to blame here for sure.
