So I have gotten this far without asking questions but I admit i'm at a crossroads and need some advice.

I recently put together a AMD machine
AMD FX-6300 6-Core

ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990X
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

2 4gb sticks of Kingston Hyper X Blu 4 GB 1600MHz

*Edit - Forgot to mention i'm using a 500gb 7600rpm drive and am getting ready to install a 60gb SSD to run the OS and some programs.

All stuffed inside this case with a couple of cooler master fans. I really like this case haha. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007BDJ5SM/ref=oh_deta...

Anyway I am finally ready to put the last piece of the puzzle together and replace the GT 240 that I have temporarily handling the graphics duties. I am eyeballing the hd 7850 but thinking I will spend the extra 20 and get the 7870.

The main question is my Ultra 650W PSU that I have been using for about 3 years now with no issue. I have seen the disdain that people have for that brand here, but I already own it and it has run like a champ for the time I have owned it. The main question is should I consider upgrading? If so what would be a good (reasonably priced) match?

Thanks guys for any light you can shine on the matter.

Input on my GPU choice is also welcomed.

3 year is not old for a psu..

say it at most you have 5% caps degrade, then your still have 85% original power..

and yeah, 7850 is not a power hungry graphic card..

a system equipped with Intel Core i7-3960X @ 4.3GHz, EVGA X79 SLI, sdd, memory etc and 7850 just consume less than 300 watt while gaming..

so, it's safe for use that psu for your next graphic card..
