So I built my PC, Here are the Parts List

AMD FX 8320
AMD 7870
8Gigs Ram
Gigabyte UD3P 970
Corsair CX500M
1TB HDD
CD Drive
Thermaltake Snow Edition Case.

Now Heres the problem, computer wont boot with GPU in, if i take it out computer turns on and i get post beep. But when I plug in gpu, nothing. I thought 500 watts would be enough for the build but am I not getting enough power with gpu installed? I bought this at microcenter so im thinking of just returning everything and starting again with different mobo, i really dislike the way gigabyte mobos have terrible placement. Also im going to swap the 7870 for a gtx 660. With a 600watt supply this time. But Regardless any ideas on why the build didnt work?

More about : whats wrong build

7870 is more powerful than gtx 660. for that setup i would say best 650w cause the 8320 is quite power hungry so it is possible that the power is just not enough. try it again with a 650w psu

on Pc Part Picker it says the entire system only drew 399 watts, which i dont think made sense. And really the 7870 is more powerful than the gtx 660? Benchmarks say otherwise though no?

sorry i should said a 7870xt version but a hd 7870(non-xt) performs somewhere around the same and 7870 oc well but not 660. also i think that the hd 7870 still offers some games isnt it? you wont go wrong with either of it and there is this mantle coming out for the GCN gpu(hd7000 series)
