I have a new OEM 0R849J MOBO and an 840 Pro Series SSD. Will the ancient (OEM MOBO) stick to AHCI or will it revert back to RAID/IDE? Since the MOBO is OEM, do I have an advantage to implement an SSD? My BIOS offers an AHCI setting, but I question how the backwards compatibility from 6 gb/s to 3 gb/s operates. Of course, there is always a larger cache on a traditional Hard Disk.
