So I have been monitoring my AMDFX 8120 because I believe that Ive been getting alot of FPS drops due to throttling.
I currently do not have it OC'd. At idle it was sitting at 55 celcius. So i opened up my case and cleaned off the heatsink and fan. It's now idling at 20 degrees (insane how much an air duster can do)

So my problem now is that while im testing on PRIME95 i noticed my temp will quickly jump from 20 degrees up to 68 degress fairly quickly. Then I noticed a huge FPS drop when the CPU temp all the sudden goes from 68 degrees and automatically drops to 51 degrees. When playing Crysis 3 i go from 80-90 FPS to 15-20 FPS.

Anyone have any ideas on whats going on?

Here are my specs :

AMD FX 8120 Zambei
8GB of ram
Windows 7
GTX 650TI BOOST

Remove the heatsink and re-apply new heat grease. Make sure you clean the old stuff off well. I find that the magic eraser works very well to clean those things out, just don't rub too hard at it does cause micro scratches which would affect heat transfer.
