Trying to figure out what kind of system to make. Sooooo many options I can't decide what to do. I'm not sure if I should make one system to do everything, or a different setup for each thing, NAS, HTPC. This is what I have, what I dont like about it, and what I need.

QNAP TS-212
- Way Too slow! There are a bunch of apps I can't install because it cant handle it.
- Transfer speeds to my PC are slow. 4-15mbs
- Not as many choices for apps as Id like.
- Not enough HD space. Can only fit 2 drives in there.

PC: Asus P5K-E, Intel Q9300 @ 2.50GHz, 8GB PC2-6400 DDR2 (400mhz), Radeon HD 5770
- Outdated
- Im sure it uses ALOT of power. I leave it on 24/7 usually. Mainly because it takes quite a while to boot.
- I do not use this for hard gaming, Usually only web browsing and watching movies and I use AVStoDVD alot to make dvds. I use jump desktop to control it with smartphone at work.

PIVOS XIOS linux xbmc
- kind of slow
- can't use any nice skin.. Not enough power.
- crashes quite abit
- Works ok, but want something better.

I need something that will run XBMC really good. No lag in menus etc. It needs to play 1080p flawlessly. I need it to be controlled by ir remote or bluetooth remote.
I want something that uses very little power. Something I can leave on 24/7 if I want. I want space to be able to expand hard drive if I want. Quick boot would also be nice. I need to be able to access the files anywhere and control the pc and/or nas when at work.

Also,
Im not concerned what size of case I use. Of course smaller the better but I could use regular size case if needed. I would like it quiet if possible but its not going to be at the TV so its not that much of an issue. Cheaper the better of course but budget is under $1000CAD.

Any suggestions/advice?

Thanks for the reply, but Im not sure if that would be a good choice for me. Not sure if they would be good for as a low-powered nas/htpc, would it? Yes those are newer parts, but will they really save that much more power? Maybe a little more but not $1000 worth paying anyways. The PC I have right now is fine, it runs xbmc flawlessly. I throw in an ssd and I'll have quick bootup. But I'll still have a slow nas and still be using lots of power while the pc is running 24/7.
