PC desktop shows at 1080i but most games play only at 720

When i'm on the desktop the resolution of the tv is 1080 but when i play metro 2033 or call of duty ghost the settings only allow me to do 1280X720. I've tried chaning the aspect ratio to wide 16x9 and all the other ones but it does not work....I've played parable of stanley and brothers at 1080...they give me that option...but the other games are not...I've always been able to play games at 1080 before...just got a new graphics card....PNY VCGGTX650T1XPB GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Video Card...but it is better then the 8800gt i've had before so i dont understand whats going on

Most games don't recognize 1080i. Gaming never used the "i" standard, so it's either 720p or 1080p if your Tv supports it. Dont' worry about it, nothing can be done.

gosh darn...i guess its time to get a new tv....nice to know i should stop trying though and accept my limitations...thanks for your help....
