So a little background info, I'm running an i5 think pad with 6 gb of ram and for when I'm out and about this is powerful enough for basic compiling. However when I'm home I require more power for my activities (no second computer) I was considering a Beowulf cluster in order to utilise other system boards cpu's for additional processing power, however can my Lenovo still run independently from this system (Fedora Linux). So when I get back I can utilise the dock to add the peripheral

If not I suppose the other approach is tricking the computer into seeing the separate SB's as one dual cpu although I can see this being labour intensive

Running a DualBoot Open BSD / RedHat both of which are cluster compatible my main source of curiosity is heather or not the primary node ( I'm assuming the laptop is the best choice) will still function independently of the cluster as this is vital
