You cant install OS from recovery disk, so don't waste your time. If you got the legit key of OS then :

Download the exact version of OS from here, its a legit download :

http://www.w7forums.com/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-imag...

Then download the tool from here to make the .ISO image bootable, you can do either one USB or DVD : How to guide is also there :

Now install the OS and have fun. Good luck.

Hi

I expect the Windows licence key on the sticker only works with a Dell Windows 7 not Microsoft System Builder or retail versions

Usually A Dell Windows is pre activated if run on the correct Dell motherboard

If you have two recovery DVD's (or one double density DVD) built by the Dell Recovery System Disk Builder
(not the Windows utility whch creats the emergency System recovery CD)

Then that should enable re installing Windows 7 provided the DVD is not corrupted (damaged) and the Hard Disk is not physically damaged.

Some Dells include a Hard Disk diagnostics program available if you press F12 at start of boot up process
(leads to menu for One Time Boot Option + Bios + recovery options, diagnostics etc)

The F12 one time bios option leads to Boot options such as floppy, DVD, USB, NIC Rom, Hard disks etc

(yes the floppy internal or USB option is still in some modern Dell Bios boot screens)

Try again and report what error messages you get
