Hi
I have a Intel Core2duo E6700 2.66 (OCed to 3.06Ghz) with 2x 2GB 1066mhz ram and a ATI 5850.

I was wondering how much of a bottleneck my CPU is and if upgrading to a Intel i5 4670k or 3570k would make a huge difference in Games.

Solution
I have a similar system as you. I have a C2D E8400 4gb 1066 ram with a GTS 250 overclocked. I get some minor bottlenecking on games at 1080p. If I OC the CPU to 3.4ghz I can reduce the bottlenecking. Your GPU is a little faster so you are probably getting minor bottlenecking. An upgrade to an i5 would be a huge difference.

I would say you are most likely bottlenecking with that old CPU. A 3570k would make a big difference, especially in newer titles. A 5850 is still a pretty decent card. It sits roughly in between an HD 7770 and HD 7790 in performance. Pretty good considering its age.

thanks guys.
I've recently bought Battlefield 4 and im stuck around 40 fps no matter what settings. Low or High ... same fps.
I was told that BF4 is CPU intensive so that's probably why im stuck at 40 fps
I guess its time for an upgrade
