Poor performing system

Hi,

The specs are as follows:
CPU - 2600K i7 OC to 4.2ghz
GPU - GTX 780 AMP
Motherboard - Asrock Z68 Extreme7 Gen 3
RAM - 16GB G.Skill ripjaws
PSU - Corsair 1200w

We've had issues with this computer for as long as we can remember. We seem to have poor performance when gaming (Hitting 20 fps on world of Warcraft on fair settings) when in raids. I'm aware that World of Warcraft is more CPU than GPU but we feel we should be getting better performance that we're getting at the moment. When running world of Warcraft we would turn SLI off to gain slightly better performance.

We replaced the GTX 690 as we assumed that it was faulty and purchased a GTX 780 AMP edition, hoping it would fix our problems. From running some tests in raids, I've noticed that I seem to get around the same FPS regardless of my settings. I can get 15 fps on ultra with shadows and SSAO maxed and 20 FPS on fair with shadows on low and SSAO off. We would expect our system to be able to run world of Warcraft with no issues on ultra at a respectable FPS.

We've ran multiple stress tests on both the GPU and CPU and although scores seemed up to standard of other systems, we just fail to see the performance our system should be giving.

Our next plan was to replace the motherboard or CPU but we're not convinced it will fix our issues.

Thanks

No we haven't, but we're willing to try. Is there any reason resetting the CPU to stock speeds would increase my performance? I'm not trying to sound cheeky, just curious.

If ther is even a slight flaw in the OC, then it can have an effect, yes. My first thought would be too low a voltage.

I've cleared the CMOS and reset the CPU to stock speeds. I quickly jumped into a world of warcraft raid and the FPS doesn't seem any different.

Thanks again.

I don't think that it's a driver issue. I've rolled my drivers back numerous times and also updated every time there's a driver available I update to it. I've even formatted the PC because I suspected driver issues.

Hi again

i managed to get a refund from my original GPU the GTX690 and am thinking of spending the money to try and resolve my performance problems. If the gtx780 didn't solve it as it hasn't i was expecting to try replacing the CPU and then Mother board if that didn't sort it.

My Asrock Z68 Extreme7 Gen 3 is PCIe 2.0, i was thinking of getting a i5-3570K and keeping my mother board but do you think id be better going for a i5 4670K and changing the mother board as well. If so what board could you recommend, i would want something that i could SLI the gtx780 in the future.

Thanks
