As You can probably the question is: Is it worth to upgrade from Intel Xeon X3440 @3.67GHz 1.4V [with HT] to AMD FX 8320 say @4.5-4.7GHz?

Secondary question: Kingston 4x2Gb HyperX @1333Mhz. To upgrade or not?

The aim is to improve gaming performance [@2560x1440] as a priority [also needs to power 2xR7950 CF], I imagine that overall performance will follow suit.

PROS:
- MB+CPU=£200
- 8 Cores and High OC
- PCIe 2.0 2x16 [vs. 2x8 now]
- AMD

Alternatively: Intel i5 4670k

PROS:
- Single Thread performance
- High OC
- Lower TDP
- PCIe 3.0 [no real performance gain but still]
- Raid 0 with TRIM

CONS:
- MB+CPU= £320
- 4 Cores
- Not compatible with Haswell Refresh

I think I can sell my current setup for £100 so, AMD upgrade for £100 or spend more than double that and get i5 4670k - because it IS worth double the money?

Thank you for your insight, in advance.

A lot of people ask these kind of questions and i think my answer is it's your choice:)

For me personally i would get the AMD FX8320 because it's cheaper. In fact i did get that CPU because it was cheaper and have been very happy with it.
I think it all comes down to how much money you have and how much you want to spend.
