Hello Tom's, I'm building a low budget system and due to my fascination with APUs, I decided to base this system off of them. This system will play games like SCII, LoL, WoW, etc. So nothing extreme is needed.

So my question is, how much faster is the graphics portion of the 6800k? Assuming I'm using 1866 mhz RAM for the 5800k and 2133 for the 6800k, and no overclocking has been done.

Also if anyone has benchmarks of these chips performing at 1080p, I would really like to see them!

Thanks,

Don't get an APU. For about the same cost or APU and the faster ram, you could go with normal ddr3 1600, a 750k/760k, and like a 7750 or better.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD A10-6800K 4.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($134.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($79.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($70.55 @ Newegg)
Total: $285.53

You can get the 760k for about $10 more.

Benchmarks have shown that the 5800k and 6800k with DDR3-2133 RAM performs almost the same with the 6800k edging out slightly by maybe 2 or at 3 FPS. The end result is they are basically equivalent to a desktop Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 graphics card which falls halfway in between the performance of the Radeon HD 5570 and Radeon HD 5670. It is not recommended for playing games at 1920x1080 since performance will be poor. Minecraft should play without any issues, but that is not one of the games you listed.

The 5800k with DDR3-1866 RAM will mean the Radeon HD 7660D will perform a little better than a Radeon HD 5570.

you can view benchmarks of the Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 graphics card in the following THG review. The benchmarks are only for 1680x1050. Based on those benchmarks running benchmarks at 1920x1080 would have basically been a waste of time.

Hello,

Assuming we knock the 6800k out of the question and focus on the 5800k, currently I can grab a 5800k+1866 for $147.98.

The cheapest I was able to find a 750k+ram+7750 was $179.97, and that's after a substantial $30 MIR.

I picked up a few MSI FM2 motherboards off Newegg for $29.99 and figured I'd put them to good use and I am leaning more towards an APU not because of performance.

Thanks again for the help!
