Hey guys, I'm new to these forums but, it looked like a great place to get some input on my new computer I'm building before I purchase any components. I haven't build a new computer in 5+ years. So it's about time.

1) I need help picking out a COOL (temp) and SILENT computer case. Any extra feature point outs would be helpful and welcomed. Mostly concerned about coolness and noise. Also, don't worry about price. No water cooling though please. I saw some reviews on silent cases but, they were all mid-size cases. I don't know how much it will restrict me from expanding later on, some input would be nice.

2) Any input, comments, suggestions, or anything else about my components would be helpful. I'd be willing and welcoming to switching out some components with justified reasons.

3)If there are any components I've missed that should be added to my rig I would love to hear some suggestions.

4)I would really like fan controller abilities and temperature display abilities.

Also, I will be using this computer for gaming, gaming, and oh yeah....gaming.
-Final Fantasy XIV
-Call of Duty
-Steam Games
-Origin Games
-Random Games

Thanks guys. Like I said, it has been awhile since I've built a computer so I'm kinda lost as to what to do and direction I want to go for some of these components.

Solution
Specific intended usage would be significant, ie what games you want to play, and what resolution. In general though, i7 and 16Gb of ram are of questionable value in a gaming machine, as they add little over an i5 and 8Gb.
Similarly, a Z87 Sabertooth is a lot of money to spend when you can pick up something that does roughly the same for $100 less.

Cool and silent are sorta conflicting goals. All the best airflow systems for cooling will have open front/top sections which are not really compatible with a silent machine. One of the best reviewed cases I've seen for noise levels is the Bitfenix Ghost, but relative to other cases of similar prices, it's not fantastic for cooling.
Also, you can mod a case fairly easily to soundproof it...

Also, you can mod a case fairly easily to soundproof it using special foam. Depending on where you live and the case you pick, it's possible a specialist retailer will sell you a kit to fill it. Alternatively, you can just buy sheets and cut panels yourself.

I would hold off on the R9 290. It shouldn't be too long (I hear next month) until custom cooler solutions start dropping which might solve how hot+loud the card is. It really won't help your goal to be silent.

As for fan controllers, I have one myself but it doesn't show temperatures (A Lamptron FC9). I understand the NZXT Sentry and Bitfenix Recon are worth a look, though I'm sure someone with more expertise than me can offer input.
