hello, so my friend is planning on building a new computer and he currently has a 1Tb WD black HDD, and the both of us were wondering if he would be able to use that hard drive with all of its files and the OS (windows 8) on it, straight away with his new build. new build would be a new mobo/GPU/RAM.
im aware he would need to install new drivers but in general, would that HDD and OS work with it?

Some may tell you yes but in my experience a fresh install works sooo much better. The registry will be smaller and cleaner and only drivers/files needed will be installed.

It might work, it might not. With that level of hardware change, I'd recommend a fresh install.
