Okay... This configuration looks dang good in my head. I just don't know anything about Mobos. This is my first gaming PC build. I plan on playing BF4, PS2, WoT, and other large scale multiplayers a lot. I want a good Motherboard for overclocking an i5-4670k and an R9 280x. I want a constant 60+ fps on these games on ultra/max if I can get it for less than $1500... So, if you guys can give me some tips about the Mobo and make a few suggestions, I would appreciate it greatly.

Solution
asus do some good boards in there maximus line. but are relativity expensive for the feature you get..
gigabyte make reliable boards. overall get my vote for bang for buck.
msi do pretty average boards. but are well featured for there price.
surprisingly asrock are now a top tier board maker. but they do have some very cheap 1s that aint great. but i cant complain about there mid range and top of the line boards. they also tend to have more features for less money.
intel boards are ok, well made have reasonable features but cost a bit more on average than similar boards form other manufacturers like gigabyte and msi.
but as overclocking is your main concern then the asus maximus hero iv is a good jumping off point.

What makes the ASUS Maximus VI Hero so great? I can afford it, I'm just curious.

Thank you...

what makes em great? quality of components and design. you get all the basics for stable oc on all of the asus maximus boards but the higher you go in price the more features are available... but the cheapest board is just as good quality wise as there most expensive and thats what makes the brand good.

AsRock and Gigabyte make good boards too. AsRock actually started out as a subsidiary of Asus. I've used MSI boards before too, and have had good luck. Best bet is to read reviews from several sites on the board you want to buy, and make an informed opinion based on those. My last two motherboards have been Asus brand, before that I had two Gigabyte boards. I bought my wife an AsRock board when I redid her pc this last april, and had good luck with it.
