i want to add a graphics card to my laptop. i have a dell inspiron 5520. i know you can add a card and was wondering what cards i could put into it. i don't want to spend much more than $125 on this.

Best solution

a b D Laptop
a b U Graphics card

not gonna happen. most modern mainstream laptops like the 5520 have the GPU soldered, the exception being expensive gaming laptops that uses an MXM slot, which is likely not supported in your case.

there's a method to adding a video card to a laptop, but;
a) it requires a PCI slot, which i reckon the 5520 doesn't have.
b) it's gonna cost you $125+

Have you gone to Dell Support and see if they have any options, yes it is more expensive if 'they do it', but it is underwarranty. If you do this to yourself and you mess up, the warranty is void (such as causing a static charge and shorting the card). You should search for the Dell Inspiron 5520 Forums, and see what other may have done. You will need the 'Service Manual' in order to know the 'right way' to take it apart (if you don't you can VERY EASILY break the components turning it into a doorstop).
