Hey guys,

I am diving into my first attempt to build myself a gaming comp from scratch. I am hoping to spend ~ $200 for the cpu and motherboard. Right now I am trying to decide between either a
(AMD fx 6300 with a ASUS M5A97 R2.0 ) or a ( fx 8320 with BIOSTAR TA970)
Both come out at the same price ~$210. So i was wondering if you guys could give me any advice on which way i should go. And if i am honest i have no experience in it, but i am hoping to try and overclock whichever one i get.

Thanks a ton.

Go with the FX6300 combo because of the better board for OC and gaming performance is similar on the CPU's.

all i can advise is try to stretch to a motherboard that has digital 8+2 power phase with heatsinks for better and more stable overclock... like the asus m5a97 r2.0 EVO or gigabyte ga-970a-ud3p ... but you will probably get by with a 4+2 power phase as well... still .. i wouldn't be fully comfortable with those if i was serious about the overclock... either one of those cpu's will do fine.... the 6 core lags behind the 8 only by some 5% in games i think... if you don't plan to OC much ... 6350 or 8350 perhaps? altho probably a better idea to sink that money into motherboard or gpu...

Alright, so assuming i went with the gigabyte board, would you recommend the 6300 or the 8320? I have found the 8320 for only like $10 bucks more than the 6300.

The 8320 is more cores and worth it for $10 more.

2 more cores is very helpful for multiplayer and is only 10 more bucks, so i would say get it

FX-8320, common guys, the answer is simple fx 8320>fx 6350 even single player campaigns, you really wanna see the difference!? ok look here
http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Crysis-3-PC-235317/Tests/... grab the fx 8320 and overclock it to 4.5ghz which will change it officially to an fx 9370!! at least at 4 ghz it is competitive with i5-4670k
Don't forget to close the post, if you feel you don't have any other questions

well yeah .. if there's a tiny price difference between 6300 and 8320 - get 8320 obviously! .... 6300 is exactly 3/4 of that cpu!
hope everything works and enjoy your new build!
