Hi, i am tired of consoles because they sell you incomplete versions of the games and you end paying a lot on dlc bullshit, besides i played on a gaming lap top the new batman game and it looked awesome, so i am saying goodbye to console gaming.I have a lot of questions, i wanted to upgrade my pc but i dont undestand the cpu socket thing.I was looking for some fx cpus 8 core and it said on the specs amd3 socket.I have an asus m2n e sli mother board and i was wondering if i have to buy a new motherboard to play? can my mother board run a fx 8core cpu?.If not ,can you recommend me a new cheap and good mother board? and a good cpu?I already have a good graphic card , i have a Sapphire Ati Radeon Hd 6950 2gb Ddr5 but i dont have it isntalled, my friend gave it to me as a gift but i dont know if i need a new mother board to use that gpu.Well sorry for bothering i am a noob in this pc stuff but i am really excited!!! tnx a lot

Your motherboard will work with the GPU just fine. However the socket on your motherboard is a limiting factor on using new CPU's.

So basically i would recommend that you get a new motherboard, new cpu and memory to go with the graphics card you got.

This set for example should get you a nice motherboard, a good amount of memory and a powerful cpu.

Ok, before you go jumping into the processor bit, you will need to ditch that ageing motherboard as it has an am2 socket. Basically the cpu socket tells you what cpu it will support for example an am3+ socket would support an fx cpu etc. You cant put an Fm2 type cpu on an am3+ socket motherboard.

Heres some good boards you can choose from, you can choose according to your budget:

For the cpu you can look at something like the fx 6300. Not an 8 core but cheaper and pretty good
