I live in California's South Bay, Santa Clara County to be even more specific.

Where can I go to check out some mechanical keyboards? Fry's only has like 4 keyboards on display.

I don't really want to buy one to test and since I am not used to mechanical as I type from a rubber dome all the time. It'll take time for me to adjust to mechanical to get the "feel" for it. What type of switch is closest in feel to rubber domes?

Gamestop usually has Razer stuff on display, including Blackwidows which is an MX Blue Switch. Though of course, different switches have differing properties, but it will give you an idea.

Mechanical keyboards feel nothing like membrane, which is kind of the point, but if I had to pick the closest switch it would be MX Black. Though I dont suggest basing your decision on what your familiar with, look at your usage and decide a switch from that.

This might help.
