I just purchased 1x4gb memory stick , I already have 2x2gb , same manufacturer (Kingston HyperX 1600) , Is it okay to use 4gb stick with 2x2gb sticks ? I know it will work but does it affect performance or motherboard .. etc ?

MOBO : Gigabye p75 with 4 memory channels .
CPU : I5 3470

Thanks

With 3 stick of ram, it will run at single channel mode instead of dual channel. Just by looking at it, you won't see to much of
a difference, but it's still better to run in dual channel.

going for a dual channel for a 4GB as 2 x 2 is a bad idea , as you just consuming more of your slots.

for a 2 x 4 GB i..e a 8GB 1 x 8 is definilty not a good choice a 2 x 4 gonna give a improved performance upto 5-7%
