Hello again,

So I'm currently still having an issue with my computer shutting down while gaming. I thought it was overheating, but after running some more test I'm not sure whats going on anymore. I don't know how to get memtest86 to work so I haven't tried that. I'm starting to think it's my PSU but again, I don't know how to tell so I was hoping you all would know.

Build:

AMD FX 8320

ASUS GTX 650 Ti boost 2gb

650W GX Cooler Master

8gb (2x4gb) Corsair Vengeance

MSI 970A-G46

Western Digital WD AV-GP WD5000AVDS 500GB

Symptoms: Computer screen blacking out, sound going out. Power on, fans running.

Again, I have no idea whats going on. But i'm sure I can rule out overheating at this point.

My guess could be the power supply,,, One do you have a lot of airflow is there a lot of dust or dirt in the system ?? how old is the system .. did you use too much thermal past on the cpu only a pea size drop is needed....

getting memtest86+ to work is easy
you just burn the .iso to a disk and reboot

let it run for 2 passes or so and this should be a good indicator of if your memory is bad or misconfigured.

It's hard to say what the cause of your problems are, just start eliminating factors one by one starting by running memtest.
Then isolate the cpu.
then isolate the gpu.

if you have other components you can swap in this can help verify faulty components

System has been getting replaced periodically. Only thing thats left from about... 2010? is the PSU and HDD. I've cleaned out all the dust and recently gotten a new case with more airflow. Also ordered a new heatsink and fan since I thought it was a overheating issue, but again. I don't think thats it.
