I am thinking about getting a new graphics card but it requires a better PSU so my question is: Can I buy a PSU with the guaranty that it will fit in my current (1-2 year old) case?

More about : standard psu size

Yes, power supplies, in general have the same dimensions. you would have to go out of your way to by a non-standard size PSU.

They don't all have the same dimensions.

Assuming an ATX power supply.

"Dimensions of an ATX power supply are 150 mm width, 86 mm height, and typically 140 mm depth, although the depth can vary from brand to brand."

Unless you have a case with some tight tolerances I stand by my original statement that you would have to try to find a power supply that won't fit.
