Hello!

I recently oc`ed my 4770k to 4,5. It`s stable in stress tests and I played 7 hours of bf4 without problems, but the temps are a little high for my liking. On intel extreme tuning utilty stress test, it sometimes pops over 85 degrees. When i`m playing bf4 the temps are around 75 (it actually was 91 for a very short time..)

My voltage stats :

CPU Input voltage (fixed) :1.900

CPU Vcore voltage mode : Override

Vcore override voltage : 1.255

Vcore additional offset : +0.100

CPU chache voltage mode : Override

CPU chache override voltage : 1.245

CPU cache additonal offset : +0.100

System agent voltage offset : +0

CPU analog IO voltage offset : +0
CPU digital IO voltage offset : +0

Dram voltage : 1.500

PCH 1.05 voltage : 1.082

PCH 1.5 voltage : 1.519

My cpu frequency is at 4,5. My Cpu cache ratio is at 4,3 ( unstable with 4,4/4,5)

My cooler is H80i.

I am pretty sure my CPU is one of the really hot ones, as my friend with almost the same voltage stats and oc have 60 when playing bf4, but I would like input from people with more knowledge than me.

Solution

When you add Offset voltage it ADDS to the voltage that you are setting, so your Vcore is 1.255 + 0.100 = 1.355 which is too much! Haswell Vcore should not exceed 1.300 for a safe maximum. Likewise, your Cache Voltage is 1.245 + 0.100 = 1.345 which, again, is too much. Cache Voltage should not exceed 1.200 v.

Try eliminating these offsets and see how you do.
