Hi I am very interested in upgrading my current PC so that it has the specs to be able to play many of the larger game titles.

I am on a budget but also want to achieve a decent amount of performance (i.e. high settings).

Would I be able to achieve this performance if I were to go ahead with buying these components for my PC:
ASUS AMD Radeon R9 270X
Intel i5-3570
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB(2x4)

I have already done some research and compatibility and these seem to be compatible with my existing components and whilst they do not provide the top performance I am more concerned with a good frame rate and their ability to provide above the average visuals

Yeah they're good enough to play any games on 1080p on high, if you turn the anti allasing down.

I think you meant i5-3570k.

Yes as far as I know this combination should easily be able to play all the games in high settings.

The parts you have chosen are good for what you want to achieve, but to help you further i would like to know the rest of the specs of your current computer. Regarding the information you have given, i can recommend these 3 items instead of the above while keeping the performance about the same and lowering the price by a significant amount.

Instead of the Asus AMD radeon R9 270X, i suggest the r9 270 (any, preferably sapphire dual-x) which you can over-clock with any of the helpful guides on the internet and on tomshardware forum to outperform the r9 270x.

Instead of the i5-3570 i recommend the i5-3330 which you can slightly overclock to match the i5-3570 :)

For the RAM, go for the cheapest 8GB you can find, its all the same.

This will bring down the cost by a minimum of $70
