Hello everyone!

I recently bought a laptop based on AMD hardware. The computer is not that bad, but I find it very disappointing in games performance. Theoretically, it could run a lot of games in medium options like Tomb Raider, Sonic Generations, Sleeping dogs, etc. The fact is, it can't, and even play them on low settings with a lot of breaks and low fps. Later, I found out that there was a feature named Turbo Core that could improve my CPU speed from 1.6Ghz to 2.4Ghz. Again, I got disappointed because in only reaches 1.8Ghz speed.
To make sure it could reach the 2.4Ghz, I installed AMD overdrive to change the configs, but since I'm a noob on overclocking and alll that stuff, I'm afraid that changing the default configs would damage my computer.
So, what should I do, and how do I do it, to change the speed to 1.8Ghz to 2.4Ghz on turbo core?

Here are the specs:

HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15
AMD A8-4555m APU 1.6Ghz Quad Core (2.4Ghz in Turbo Core mode... supposedly)
Ati Radeon HD7600G 1GB + Ati Radeon HD8500M 1.5GB
6GB RAM DDR3
500GB HD SATA II

You have to enable turbo core in your bios for turbo core to work

Thank you for your response!

But the Turbo core is working and enabled, but it's not reaching the speed it should...

How are you checking CPU speed ?

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html try CPU Z

and you are not seeing an increase in CPU speed?

Nope... In fact, it just goes up and down, mainly the core #0 and Core #1, the other ones are almost on 1.4Ghz and 1.5Ghz. Core 0 and 1 goes from 1.4Ghz to 2Ghz...

I got the same CPU, let me tell you what I've done...

1st of all, your gaming experience isn't good enough because of the GPU.
the problem is, on AMD processors the system which "overclock" your cpu is the same which thotles it, and what does that means?
It means if you stop the turbo core you'll stop the throtling too.
Another point is, that this system (turbo core) "kills" your gpu too, when it's enabled the gpu throtles itself to decrease the tems (even I found it not necessary because my cpu reaches 80 degrees constantly, and the maximum is 95 degrees, my older core i5 used to get 95 stable).
so, when I disable the turbo core, your cpu locks at 1.6ghz and gpu at 424 mhz (DURING GAMES OR DEMANDING APPS).
When it's enabled my cpu goes down to 800mhz and the gpu get locked at 200mhz (terrible gaming experience)

Try disabling the turbo core (AMD OVERDRIVE) when you're gaming, when you're not gaming keep it enabled, you'll gain some speed.

PS.: sorry for bad English I'm brazilian
