Hello

I'm looking into buying a new laptop. Which of the following would be best for playing the latest video games.

My current choices:
Quad Core i7 4700MQ - 2.4 GHz
nVIDIA GeForce GT740M 2GB Dedicated Graphics

or

Core i7 3537U - 2 GHz
4GB NVIDIA GT740M

So basically the choice is better CPU or Better nVIDIA dedicated graphics

Thankyou
Kind Regards

Solution
The first laptop would be best, but don't expect to be playing any of the latest titles on that GPU. At least with a framerate faster than a powerpoint slideshow.

That card barely has control over 2 GB of memory, so there will be 0.00% difference between a GT 740M with 4 GB DDR3 and 2 GB DDR3. Go with the first laptop, because of the better CPU, but yet again, don't expect running the heaviest 2014 titles decently on the 740M.

Thats a bit unfair. The 740m can play most of the new games at medium settings at 30+ fps.

Hi

Ive narrowed the shortlist down to these two laptops

Which of these two would be best:

Quad Core i7 4700MQ - 2.4 GHz
nVIDIA GeForce GT740M 2GB Dedicated Graphics
Screen: 1366 x 768

or

Quad Core i7-3610QM - 2.3GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT650M 2G Dedicated Graphics
Screen: 1920 x 1080

I read, the 740m is newer, yet the 650M is a better GPU

Second option above would give me full HD, though the CPU is slightly better on first option

Thankyou again

I never said it was a powerhouse, but as a laptop GPU its not terrible.
