I am looking to purchase a good graphics card for my boyfriend for Christmas, but am absolutely clueless in this department. After reading hundreds of reviews, I thought the following card would be a solid choice:

EVGA 04G-P4-2768-KR GeForce GTX 760 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support SC 4GB w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card

He has an Alienware Aurora, but I am unsure about the hardware specifics. I am assuming most graphics cards are compatible?

Please help! Thank you!

The "4GB" really boosts the price and is likely not necessary unless your BF is gaming at super-duper (technical term :)) resolutions.

That puts your price-point at a level where you could purchase a mo' bettah card (by 20% or so) like the GTX 770 2GB or R9 280X 3GB.

A power supply in the 550w or higher range will be just dandy.

Since you have an alienware, it should have a service tag on it somewhere. If we have this we can then get the specs of your system and aid you with finding the correct card. If you are not comfortable doing that you can run windows system information to get the details on your PC. To do this hit windows key + R and type msinfo32. This will open the system information tool which will give us most of the specs we need to give advice on your system. You can go to File/Export and save the text file that was generated and then post that here. You will still need to tell us how much watts your power supply is and you can see this by opening your tower and reading the info off the side of the power supply unit.
