Just bought a new ASUS RT-AC68R router to replace my Netgear N600. Now I am having buffering issues using Netflix that i never had before. The Reason for replacing was that the wifi on my netgear stopped working. I have all cat6 wired connections except for my Roku upstairs which is wireless. I never had and trouble (until router started going bad). Whats really got me puzzled is the wired connection to my bluray player downstairs is having issues as well. Basically all we do on our network is stream from my pc using Plex(which seems to be working fine) and watching netflix. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas. Maybe setup wrong or needs tweeking? I have not changed anything with my setup except replacing the router. modem going straight to router to a Linksys switch and distributed from there.

Since you can stream within the house your cabling and equipment is likely not to blame.

I would try the standard plug directly into the modem and verify the ISP connection is actually good. ASUS router generally are pretty high capacity so it is unlikely you are even straining it.

Another way to verify the router is ok. Make up some fake WAN ip and put your existing PC on the WAN interface and then do the streaming you say works in your house. You can also run tools like iperf between your devices and really stress the router to see how much you can force though it.
